Sophia and I had been seeking out locations that were public and not derelict but which stood empthy much of the time for one reason or another.

Bascom Hall

"God"

Sophia just started writing GOD on the blackboard unprompted. Her presence in these environments seems to ask questions and give meaning; hence "a picture."

Wisdom - 1997

Sophia is my main model these days. Here, at seven, she is Wisdom in the Wisconsin State Capitol.

Ecclesiastes 1:18 "For in much wisdom is much grief and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow."

Sophia's Breath - 1999

This is one of two images stolen from my show at the Old Post Office in Madison (1999-2000)

The Balloon Animals Are Dying - 1994

As Sophia's balloon animals deflated, she wanted the existence of each recorded. Some Photoshop thrown in with some SX-70 here.
